Flashcard Hero Lite App Reviews

It’s OK

This is an OK app — they’re just flashcards. The main benefit I see is it saves me a lot of time writing them out by hand and I don’t have to remember to lug cards around with me when I want to study. I like being able to shuffle the deck, rate the easiness of a particular card, and being able to decide whether or not to learn the cards by answer or by question. I somewhat dislike the layout, though. Typically when I make flashcards, one side has the question, the other has the answer. While this way shows you the question (or the answer) and covers the other half, I feel like the text is too small. It would be nice if we could have one side with the question, and then the other with the answer. That way we might also be able to use photos as the question and not just in the answer. This is beneficial when learning languages in particular (I’m sure there are other subjects where this might be useful). Finally, I feel there would be a more seamless user experience if I didn’t have to click on the card to learn the question/answer and then have to move over to the arrow to click to the next card. It would be nice if there was an option to be able to create the cards so that the question and answer show up as two simultaneous cards when in study mode. So click the right arrow, it shows my question, click the arrow again and it shows my answer. Simple, effortless, and I can move through the cards quicker.

Not Half Bad

So far this app works pretty well. My only complain is the fact that your limited to 20 cards a deck but an unlimited number of decks makes it nothing more than an inconvience. If your looking for free flash cards, this it it.

Set ‘em up and Study!

Really nice app - simple to use and quick to create the cards. I can spend most of my time studying the flash cards, not creating them. Bravo!

Great…Could use a few improvements

It’s an excellent app for getting your material down and studying right away. However the ability to add files in which to place decks would be very helpful.

Easy to use

Really simple: it does what you’d expect, and does it well! And I got very quick feedback from the developer on a question. Price seems a little bit high but overall worth it for me.

Changes

Great app, I would suggest making it possible to put Decks in Categories of their own. Being in school, having more categories would be essential.

Improved grades

I love this app so much!!! it has helped to imrpove my grades, and I even achieved A’s on my midterms because of this useful study tool!:) I would like it if I were to be able to create cards on my iPad, and not just my iMac that would be so useful! In my opinion, I would recommend this app over quizlet anyday haha. Thank you creators for this outstanding app!

The Efficiency Boost I’ve Been Waiting For

This application has significantly improved the efficiency with which I study for a series of professional examinations. The ability to paste text into the flashcards has made creating them effortless. It is no longer necessary to discard and replace handwritten cards when edits are required and they can be repeatedly rearranged and categorized. Most important, I no longer have to carry hundreds of flashcards in my backpack. Finally, the customer support during the transition from iOS 7 to iOS 8 was responsive and helpful. There is one improvement I would like, the ability to use LaTeX directly in the application.

Please Add Feature!

I love this app…however, I would really like to be able to study multiple decks at a time. For instance we have chapter tests so I break my decks into chapters. But for the mid term or final I need all of that information and combining it would be great!

Not Enough Emphasis on Question

I had no problem with app, but I just don’t like the look when you study. I wanted this to replace my physical flash cards. Ones in which I write the question on the front and the answer on the back. I hate how this has it all on one side and the question is small. It does not leave a visual lasting impression, thus I cannot recall as well. I rather stare at the bright colored picture that is “blocking” my answer, rather than focusing on the question. If this is supposed to act as physical index cards do, I do not know anyone who arranged them with the question an answe ron the same side, its stupid! I guess I will stick to traditional paper flashcards until I find an app that works.

LOVEEEE IITTTTTT!!!!!!

I love this app it helps me study a lot. The only down fall is that it only lets you do 20 terms at a time. I generally need more than that and have to make 2 decks to fit all terms. They should raise it to 30 terms. Other than that I love it.

20 Cards

Thats all you get. If you’re trying to study for anything important, don’t waste your time. You may as well just save your money and write on an index card. However, if the price for more than 20 measly cards wasn’t ridiculous, the app works fine. There’s nothing wrong with it but, really, how could you screw something like this up?

Game changer

It really was a game changer when it came to my study habits. I’m much more of a computer guy and typing than paper and writing, so this worked perfect. Allows you to even insert pictures, which was great for Geology and identifying rocks (I know, pretty specific but still). I almost NEVER upgrade or buy something, but I did for this. Great, great app.

Great App and Study Support

I absolutely love this app! I am a high school English teacher, a continuing education student myself, and OCD embracer! This app has helpd me to stay organized throughout all the classes that I teach as well as those that I am a student in, and I cannot recommend it more! I encourage all of my students to download and utilize this app because it both organizers you and your notes, but it also offers a study/review component!

NOT “corrupted/damaged” — Excellent App & Support

The app is outstanding (I have tried several others as well… haven’t looked back). The functions added by v2.0 are great! I got the free trial, and realized quickly the in-app upgrade was worth every penny. I DID have some installation issues with the update, much like previous reviewers with the “corrupted/damaged” issues. BUT, I received a very helpful and timely reply from the support email, and the fix was simple as: - Delete the app once more by dragging it to the Trash - Sign out of the Mac App Store (from the menu bar, choose Store → Sign Out) - Reboot your Mac - Now sign back in to the Mac App Store and download the app one more time Fixed! It’s an issue with the app store, not the app. Also, as long as you know where you saved the flashcards (recommend iCloud), nothing is lost either. The (free) mobile app/flashcard viewer is also terrific.

Flashcard Hero

I tried the free version of this app before purchasing. I am always very reluctant when it comes to app purchases and have bought a very few select ones over the course of many years. This was one of those rare purchases because I felt it was well worth the $7.99 price tag. The author continues to put a lot of time and work into each new version to add many useful enhancements. I have been learning Spanish, using DuoLingo, for the past 240 days and have been putting Flashcard Hero to use in conjunction with it. The speech function of Flashcard Hero greatly aids me in remembering pronunciations. This is a very valuable tool for anyone needing access to review what they have learned. I can pull it up on my iPhone or iPad anytime, anywhere and solidify what I have previously studied. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a flashcard app!

The American English Voice is terrible

Please change it. It’s is not easy to understand. I can understad better British accent that I am not used to than American accent. Please change it.

Awesome study app!

This is a great app for studying anything! it has everything you need, it can be synced onto your phone, and even the free version is amazing! must have for anyone in school or learning anything at all!

Too Expensive

This app is WAY too expensive for the limited functionality. On top of this, they charge an additional $3.99 for the iPad and iPhone apps! For $7.99 they should include the license for both the iPad and iPhone. When they reduce the price, I’ll consider it but until then I can wait.

Awesome app!

I LOVE using this app to study! I have yet to see a problem with it. My students use this app to study all of the time, and it has done wonders for them. Not a doubt in mind, GET THIS APP!!! The most frequently used (ok, maybe next to Chrome) app on my Macbook.
